Show me, tell me quiz: the car safety questions
The examiner asks one "tell me" question before you drive and one "show me" question on the move. The tell me answers and the show me tasks are published, short and worth knowing cold.
Fifteen questions a go, drawn from every tell me question DVSA publishes, every show me task and how the two are marked, with a different set each time. The show me tasks are shown by the symbol on the control you would use. Each answer is explained, and the full list with DVSA's wording is on GOV.UK.

What are the show me, tell me questions?
Two vehicle safety questions in the car driving test: a "tell me" question at the start, where you explain how you would carry out a check, and a "show me" question while driving, where you do something such as switching on the rear demister. The published list has 14 "tell me" and 7 "show me" questions.
Do you fail the driving test if you get a show me, tell me question wrong?
Not for a wrong answer: getting one or both wrong is recorded as a single driving fault. You fail if your driving is dangerous or potentially dangerous while you answer the "show me" question.
Can I use the car's manual for the tell me questions?
No. The questions are answered from memory, but the answers are published in advance on GOV.UK, so there is nothing to guess.
